At the initial stages the league had 8 teams taking part but to due to issues cropping up with respect to the registration and other commercial aspects they could not increase the count of the cities representing in the IPL. The teams that made it to the IPL and vanished were Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala which was in connection to a with Mr. Shashi Tharoor who was the Union Minister back then.
