Triangular Series : India A trash Afghanistan A by 7 wickets to register their first win

After suffering a narrow loss to South Africa A, India A won their first match of the tournament by thrashing Afghanistan A by 7 wickets played at Pretoria. Winning the toss, India A captain Manish Pandey won the toss and elected to field, the bowlers did a great job to bowl out the opposition for 149 and then chased down the target with ease.

India A captain, Manish Pandey won the toss and elected to field. Afghanistan A got off to a worse start losing the wicket of Gani in the second over. Javed Ahmadi and Rahmat Shah steadied the innings with positive intent scoring 33 runs during first power play overs. Both of them added 39 runs for the second wicket. After that, the Indian bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals. Axar Patel, Chahal and Vijay Shankar bowled tight lines which did not allow Afghanistan A batsmen to score runs with ease. Ashraf and Fareed Ahmed added 25 runs for the last wicket. Afghanistan A were bowled out for 149 in 40.5 overs. Only 3 batsmen were able to contribute in a poor batting performance.

Chasing the paltry total of 150, Iyer and Nair gave a solid start adding 31 runs for the first wicket in just 5.5 overs. India A scored 45 runs for 1 in the first 10 overs. Sanju Samson was dismissed for 10. Karun Nair and captain Manish Pandey played with positive intent. Karun Nair completed his half century in 74 balls. He was dismissed for 57. Manish Pandey and Pant remained not out to give India A 7 wicket win with 116 balls to spare.

India A 150 for 3 in 30.4 overs (Karun Nair 57, Manish Pandey 41*) beat Afghanistan A 149 in 40.5 overs (Ashraf 39*, Rahmat Shah 35, Zadran 30, Axar Patel 3/33, Vijay Shankar 3/24) by 7 wickets.

India A will play their next match on 1st August against Afghanistan
