The men in blue have donned the whites again after a quite log gap to continue from where they had left it. The Indian team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli have defeated Sri Lanka in the first of the three test matches to go one up in the series. Chasing a massive total of 550 runs the hosts fell short of 304 runs. Dimuth Karunaratne showed some mettle, however, he was bowled by Ashwin falling three short of what could have been his sixth test century.
Earlier in the day India declared their innings at 240 for 3, Kohli scoring his seventeenth test century. While batting, Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals as the visiting team reduced them to 116 for 4 before Ashwin and Jadeja’s spin rattled their innings. The spin duo took 6 wickets out of 8 wickets as Herath and Gunaratne didn’t bat due to injuries.
