We all know that Team India skipper Virat Kohli is one of the fittest athletes. Such that his fitness regime, it is compared to that of Tennis star Novak Djokovic. It was during the year 2014-15 when Kohli started focusing more on his fitness. He took his fitness to such extent where he completed his diet and routine. He started training vigorously with former India trainer Shankar Basu which the face of fitness in India.

The road towards fitness wasn’t really the easiest one for Kohli. As he had to give up his favourite ‘chole bhature’ and ‘butter chicken’ in the process. So much so that at times after training, his mom would think that her son has become sick.

How mother of Virat Kohli reacted to his fitness regime?

Since Virat Kohli wouldn’t eat anything regularly due to his regime. He said during an interaction with Mayank Agarwal on his show #OpenNetswithMayank on bcci.tv

“My mom used to tell me that I am becoming weak. I think that’s a very regular thing any mother would say. Tu bada kamjor ho gaya hai, tu kuch khata hi nahi hai,” he said.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s hard work paid off really well as he went on to become of the fittest cricketers in the world. Young generation started idolizing his fitness standards and started focusing more on fitness. Even players like Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul took inspiration from their captain and raised the bar of fitness in the Indian team. We hardly see an unfit person playing in the Indian team since Kohli has raised the bar.

The introduction was the Yo-Yo test in the Indian Cricket Team changed the fitness standards of the team. This change in standards also resulted in the Indian performing much better as the fielding standards naturally improved over time.
