Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a crushing margin of 54 runs in a one-sided encounter at Brabourne Stadium in the ongoing IPL 2022. Bangalore failed to chase the target of 210 runs. This win has kept Mayank Agarwal and Co. alive in the face of playoffs.
While chasing the mammoth target of 210 runs, Virat Kohli gave a good start to RCB in the first three overs. However, he failed to convert it into a big one. Rabada took the crucial wicket of Virat. In the next over itself, Rishi Dhawan took wickets of Faf and Mahipal Lomror.
Two wickets in one over completely broke the back of RCB in the run chase. Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell formed a 64 runs partnership between them to give RCB a chance in this game. Both of them kept on attacking spinners. However, Patidar and Maxwell were dismissed in the span of three balls.
Maxwell played an impactful knock of 35 runs in 22 balls. Dinesh Karthik was also dismissed cheaply on a score of 11 runs. With this wicket, all hopes of RCB in this match ended. Meanwhile, fans were happy to see Punjab Kings return to winning ways.
Here are some of the top Twitter reactions from this match :
It has gone downhill very quickly for #RCB and they need to be very careful of that NRR. The best they can do is get to 16 and hope there are only 4 teams there.

Excellent win for Punjab. They lost the toss but began brilliantly thanks to Jonny Baba and never looked back from there, Wanindu and Harshal brought RCB back but the score was too many for RCB who threatened for a while. Important win for Punjab.

I am sure RCB bowlers will be given only one advice in this time out. Remove Livingstone and restrict Punjab under 200 runs. Anything above 200 will be an uphill task for RCB. #PBKSvsRCB #TATAIPL2022

Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone – The shining stars for Punjab Kings
After being invited to bat first, Punjab Kings got a fiery start in the powerplay. Bairstow scored 22 runs against Hazlewood in the 2nd over of the match. Bairstow also attacked Mohammed Siraj in Powerplay. As a result, Punjab Kings scored 83 runs in the Powerplay. Bairstow played a flamboyant knock of 66 runs in 29 balls.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma couldn’t score much. Wanindu Hasaranga tried to pull back things for RCB with his economical spell. However, it wasn’t enough to stop the Punjab Kings batsman. Liam Livingstone played an amazing knock of 70 runs in 42 balls to guide Punjab to an impressive total of 209 runs.
