The onslaught started by Joe Root and Dom Sibley which turned into a 200 run partnership between the two resulted in England piling a whole load of runs by the end of Day 2. With Team India having no answer to how to dismiss the English batsman, Virat Kohli handed the bowl over to Rohit Sharma for a short spell of 2 overs in order to provide the frontline bowlers with some rest after an excruciating day.
Rohit Sharma who hardly bowls these days was seen hilariously imitating Harbhajan Singh’s bowling action which took Twitter by a storm. Initially, Rohit started with his traditional round-arm action but then resorted to Harbhajan Singh’s bowling action in the last ball before the umpires called for the tea.
The action which Rohit imitated included all the elements we usually see in the bowling action of Harbhajan Singh, right from taking the initial jump to finishing the action it all seemed like an exact carbon copy of his bowling action.
Rohit Sharma Imitates Harbhajan Singh in Chennai
The opening batsman shares a special bond with Harbhajan Singh to whom he refers as ‘Bhajju Pa’ played cricket together for the Mumbai Indians franchise from 2011 to 2017 until Mumbai Indians made a decision to release their long term serving player Harbhajan Singh.
Nonetheless, Rohit was seen imitating Harbhajan Singh’s bowling action on Day 2 which led to people talking about it on Twitter. During the Australian tour when Navdeep Saini was injured we witnessed Rohit Sharma complete his over by bowling medium pace but this time around in India, we witnessed Rohit bowl off-spin at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Rohit bowled just 2 overs on Day 2 without managing to pick a wicket at the cost of 7 runs.
