Former India captain Virat Kohli failed to leave her mark in the first Test against Bangladesh on Wednesday, December 14, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. He could manage only 1 run and that left fans in the outer disgust. Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam trapped him before the stumps with his sharp turn.
Kohli went on the back foot to play Taijul’s delivery but the ball spun sharply and hit his back pad of Kohli. However, Kohli had a discussion with Cheteshwar Pujara, and his partner advised him to go for the review. But, the review was unsuccessful, as the ball was pitched in line and hit directly between the middle and the leg stump, as per the DRS replays as well.
It was another poor show from him in Test cricket as he hasn’t reached a three-figure score in the format since the last time he played against Bangladesh in November 2019 during the Day-Night Test at the Eden Gardens as well. Virat Kohli has scored 221 runs in eight innings which came at an average of 27.62 in 2022, with his best score of 79 against South Africa earlier in January as well.
However, it is worth mentioning that Virat Kohli has displayed huge improvements in white-ball cricket with some outstanding performances in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where he broke his century drought in ODI cricket as well.
Meanwhile, there were mixed reactions to Virat Kohli’s dismissal as fans started reacting on this.
