Team India fast bowler Umesh Yadav is a regular feature in red-ball cricket. However, he has struggled to make inroads in the limited-overs side and is keen to break into the team. Umesh, who played only one limited-overs match for India since last February — in Visakhapatnam — said he is desperate to make a comeback.
The 32-year-old cricketer last represented India during the Test series against Bangladesh. Since then, he has been busy featuring his stateside Vidarbha in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He was left out the T20I and ODI squad against New Zealand and will is likely to travel to New Zealand for the two Tests.
Umesh keen to make ODI comeback
The star pacer Umesh Yadav, who has had good outings in the Ranji Trophy is keen to make a comeback in the limited-overs and is working hard for it. Umesh has seven T20Is and 75 ODIs to his name and wants to add more caps to his name.
"Who wants to sit outside the ground? I am also human. I am working really hard and am very eager to play white-ball cricket again," Umesh told Times of India.
"I am thankful to the selectors who gave me the opportunity to play for the country. They are the best judge. I am trying my best to make a comeback to white-ball cricket. For this, whatever I have to do, I will," he added.
However, Umesh Yadav wants to focus on the upcoming assignment and keep up his excellent form. He played a key role during the series against Bangladesh and South Africa at home and formed a key partnership with Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami. He is hopeful to get picked for the series and is focused to give his 100 percent against the Black Caps.
"Honestly, I am looking forward to this (playing Tests in New Zealand). I am eager to play red-ball cricket in New Zealand. I have performed well in recent times and I'm in good touch too. My series against Bangladesh was good too. I am pretty positive about my selection for New Zealand Test series.
"If I am selected, I am going to give my 100 per cent. I have worked a lot on my line and length. I am hoping for the best," he signed off.
