The Royal Challengers Bangalore has had a disappointing 2023 Women’s Premier League so far. They were bowled out for another paltry score in the tournament against the UP Warriorz on Friday, March 10 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batting attack collapsed to 138 runs in twenty overs.

Skipper Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to bat first. She opened the innings with Sophie Devine, but couldn’t score much. Mandhana was dismissed for just four runs off six deliveries. Following her dismissal, Devine and Ellyse Perry steadied the ship. They put together a 44 runs partnership for the second wicket. Sophie Ecclestone provided UP Warriorz a breakthrough by dismissing Devine, with RCB at 73 runs in around nine overs.

The Bangalore batting attack suffered a collapse from that situation. Ellyse Perry was the lone fighter in the innings. She scored 52 runs off 39 deliveries, with six boundaries and a six. The rest of the unit failed to make an impact in the game. Sophie Ecclestone took a four-wicket haul for UP Warriorz, while Deepti Sharma picked up three wickets.

Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting performance:

My wicket was crucial: Ellyse Perry

Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Ellyse Perry expressed that the team knew that Brabourne is a good batting wicket. The ground has witnessed several 200-plus scores this 2023 Women’s Premier League. Perry also spoke about Heather Knight’s run in the innings. Speaking at the mid-innings break, she said, as quoted by Cricbuzz,

“It was nice to be out there. Having played four games we know what a good wicket it is to bat on. My wicket was crucial and that led to us not batting out the overs. lay each ball at a time, you can be busy and not worry about anything else.”

“My fault there, I hit the ball really well and thought it was wide of the fielder, I said sorry to Heather,” she added.
