Veteran Bangladesh Pacer Mustafizur Rahman Hospitalized After Head Injury in Practice Session

Bangladesh’s top fast bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, sustained an injury during a practice session for an upcoming Bangladesh Premier League match. He suffered a head injury with bleeding and received immediate ice treatment on the field before being swiftly taken to a hospital in the port city.

During a net practice with the Comilla Victorians, Rahman was accidentally hit on the head by a powerful shot from his teammate and captain, Liton Das, who was practicing nearby. With Rahman sidelined, attention now turns to how his absence will impact the Comilla Victorians and the overall BPL. Fortunately, as there were no matches scheduled for the day of the incident, the team has a moment to regroup and strategize for the upcoming matches.

Physio Zahidul Islam Sazal said: “During practice a ball hit directly at the left parietal area (head) of Mustafizur Rahman. There was an open wound at his parietal area and we have worked with compression bandage to stop bleeding and immediately shifted him to Imperial hospital.”

“After CT scan we are satisfied that he’s had only an external injury. There was no Intra-Cranial bleeding. Now surgical team has given him stitches to treat the open wound. Now he is under close supervision of Comilla Victorians team physio.”

On Monday, February 19, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the Comilla Victorians are set to face off against the Sylhet Strikers in the 37th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.
