Karun Nair will return to County Championship for the year 2024. He was unsold during the IPL auction that was held in Dubai on 19th December 2023. Nair had a successful campaign for Northamptonshire during the 2023 County Championship. During last season, he played for 3 matches of Division but failed to survive relegation to Division 2.

Nair showed his class with knocks of 78, 150, and 21 in the three innings he played for the team.  “I’m thrilled to be returning to Northamptonshire for another stint of County Championship cricket. I would like to thank the coach and captain for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity,” Nair said in a release by the club.

The star Indian batter will feature in seven first-class games for Northamptonshire this season.

Expressing his delight at having Nair back, Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler said, “Because of the impact Karun had with us last season, he was always our main target to get back with us this season. We are delighted to get him on board with us again, and I’m sure he will be a super asset for us again this season.”

Nair will be replaced by Prithvi Shaw in the Northamptonshire team in the second half of the tournament. Northamptonshire finished 10th in the points table of division and will play Division 2 this season. Karun Nair would look to continue his superb form for the county.
