Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj feels it will be challenging for England to successfully implement their ‘Bazball’ tactics in Indian conditions during the five-match Test series. The first test is set to kick off on Thursday, January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
England have asserted that they will continue with their ‘Bazball’ tactics during the series. They have achieved much success playing by this approach. However, Mohammed Siraj feels it will be difficult for them to pull it off in Indian conditions. He also opined that the match may get over soon if England adopts their much-talked-about approach. Siraj said exclusively to JioCinema,
“If England plays Bazball in Indian conditions, the match may get over within a day and a half or two. It’s not easy to hit every time here as the ball turns sometimes and straightens on other occasions. So, I think it’ll be difficult to see Bazball here. But if they play it, it’ll be good for us as the match may get over quickly.”
Stay patient and continue to build pressure: Mohammed Siraj’s mantra for the series
Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj further spoke about his plans for the upcoming test series against England. He expressed that his aim will be patient and control runs, to build pressure on the batters. He also recalled the last England’s tour of India, where Siraj picked three wickets in two matches.
“On their previous tour to India, the matches were getting over quickly. In that series (in 2021) I think I played two matches. In the first innings of one of these, I bowled five overs and took two wickets of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. So, the aim will be to control runs in how many ever overs I bowl. If I get wickets fine, but I’ll have to stay patient and continue building pressure on the batsmen,” said Siraj.
