Imam scored a brilliant 151 off 131 balls, Harris Sohail 41, Asif Ali 52, cameos by Imad Wasim and Hasan Ali helped Pakistan score a massive target of 358 for 9 in 50 overs. For Chris Woakes was the pick of bowlers with 4 for 67 while Liam Plunkett took 1 and Tom Curran finished with 2 for 74 runs.
Chasing the target of 359 runs to win, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow provided a cracking start adding 159 runs in 17.3 overs to lay a strong foundation. Roy was dismissed for 76 off 55 balls, Bairstow scored 128 off 94 balls. The other England batsmen contributed as Joe Root scored 43, Moeen Ali remained not out on 46, Ben Stokes 37 and captain Eoin Morgan remained not out on 17.
The hosts chased down the fifth-highest successful run chase in One-day international cricket by six wickets with 31 balls to spare. It was an amazing batting performance by England who has been performing brilliantly with the bat after the first-round exit in the 2015 World Cup played in Australia and New Zealand.
