The new vice-captain of One-day international team Rohit Sharma was dismissed in an unfortunate manner as he was run out at the Rangri International Stadium, Dambulla. This incident took place during the last ball of the 5th over. Rohit Sharma tried to steal a single of Lasith Malinga. The ball went to Kapugedra and hit the stump as Sharma has reached the crease but the bat was stuck and the foot was in the air. It was an unlucky dismissal for Sharma who was playing his first match of the series.
Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had put on 23 runs in 4.5 overs. The hard hitting batsman was dismissed for 4 runs. He played 13 balls for his 4.
