Jasprit Bumrah was reportedly ruled out of the Brisbane test with an abdominal injury. However, Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour has provided a crucial update on his inclusion in the playing XI for the fourth Test. India have been marred by a number of injuries which has given the team management selection headaches ahead of the final Test at The Gabba. Meanwhile, Rathod has spoken on Bumrah’s availability for the Test match.

Addressing the pre-match virtual press conference, Vikram Rathour said that a final decision on the playing XI will be taken before the toss on Friday. Meanwhile, the BCCI has said that they will not risk playing Bumrah with an important series against England at home to follow.

The Medical Team is Working WIth Jasprit Bumrah: Vikram Rathour

“The medical team is working with (Jasprit) Bumrah, we have to see tomorrow morning whether he is fit to play the fourth Test or not. If he can play, he will play, if he cannot, then he won’t,” Rathour was quoted as saying ahead of the 4th Test in Brisbane.

He further said that the Indian thinktank would like to give its players enough time to get fit before deciding the final playing XI for the Gabba Test.

“Injuries are still being monitored. Our medical staff is working with the players. I wouldn’t be in a position to comment how it stands at the moment. We would like to give them as much time as they can and only tomorrow morning you will know, which XI is going to play,” Rathour said.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mayank Agarwal are having their own injury problems to sort out before the playing XI is announced for the final game. While Ashwin took body blows in the previous Test match, Agarwal injured himself at a practice session.

Meanwhile, Rathour has said that the Indian thinktank will field the best possible XI for the final Test match against Australia. The Indian team are eyeing a second successive Test series win against Australia in their own backyard.

“With or without injuries, the eleven that India will put up will be the best eleven on the ground and all of them deserve to be there. All of them deserve the opportunity to play Test cricket and if they play to their potential, I don’t see why won’t do well” concluded the Indian batting coach.
