Virat Kohli was constructing yet another a great test match century at his favourite Australian cricket ground the Adelaide Oval. The India captain looked determined from the outset to lead from the front with the bat. After grinding it out in the first two sessions he was on course to register a very special test match hundred.
Sadly, it wasn’t to be as against the run of player there was a huge mix-up between Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane that led to a run-out. The Indian captain was batting beautifully on 74 when Rahane sold him a dummy. Kohli who is always eager to pick up quick singles set off after an initial call of yes from Rahane after he drove Nathan Lyon towards mid-off.
Virat Kohli Gets Runs Out After A Mix Up With Ajinkya Rahane
When Rahane saw Josh Hazlewood quickly got to the ball he said no but by then the damage had already been done. Kohli was left stranded in the middle of the pitch as Australia execute an easy run-out. The Indian captain was annoyed after getting run out and walked back to the dressing room at a crucial stage of the match. The wait for an elusive international century in 2020 continues for Kohli as he missed a golden opportunity to register three digits.
Meanwhile, after a disappointing end of Kohli’s innings the onus was on Rahane to take India’s batting effort forward. Unfortunately, he too departed in a quick session on 42 courtesy off a ripping in swinger by Mitchell Starc as Australia made a roaring comeback in the match. Wriddhimann Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin are currently batting under lights in the pink ball Test at Adelaide Oval.
