Former cricketer AB de Villiers has expressed his confidence in veteran Team India cricketer Virat Kohli’s batting prowess. He predicted that right-handed batters will shine in the upcoming 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, which kicks off on October 5 in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli will be playing his fourth ODI World Cup for India. He was part of the 2011 World Cup winning team, and also led India at the 2019 edition. The batter has been in tremendous form this year, scoring 612 runs at an average of 55.63 in ODIs with three centuries. His former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers has predicted a great World Cup for the prolific run-scorer.

“Virat Kohli is going to have a wonderful World Cup. He will be one of the leading run scorers in this World Cup and he will be there in the Top 3 run scorers. Virat Kohli is going to play some very crucial Knocks in this World Cup 2023. Under pressure when team India are feeling it and crowds expectations and tough situations and then Virat Kohli is your man, he will deliver for you,” said AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli’s record at ODI World Cups

Team India batter Virat Kohli has a great record at the ICC ODI World Cups. He has been a valuable player in the team over the years at world championships. In 26 World Cup matches, the right-hander has scored 1030 runs at an average of 46.81. He has two centuries, one each against Pakistan and Bangladesh and six fifties.

Overall, Virat Kohli has scored 13083 runs in ODI cricket in 281 matches at an average of 57.38, and a strike rate of 93.78. He has 47 centuries and 66 fifties to his name in the format. He will take the field for Team India in his fourth ODI World Cup appearance on October 8 against Australia at Chennai.
