The talismanic run-scorer Virat Kohli is inching closer to touch Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries. Many feel the current India skipper is the best to break the maestro’s record of 100 international tons which looked like an impossible task at one stage. Recently, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan weighed in on the debate.

Since his breakthrough in international cricket, Virat Kohli has been following the footsteps of his idol. He has made batting look like a cakewalk and consistency a synonym to his name. The cricketer from Delhi has been a prolific run-scorer shattering all-records in the way. And now, Kohli, who has 43 tons to his name, stands closer to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.

Difficult for Virat Kohli to score 100 tons: Irfan Pathan

But it looks more than impossible for the current great to touch the magical figure of 100 international centuries. So far, he has 70 international centuries to his name. Speaking on the same lines, Irfan Pathan while speaking to Sports Tak, said that it is a difficult task for Virat Kohli. However, if the Indian skipper survives for long, then he might have an outside chance, feels Irfan.

“I wish but it is difficult. In ODI’s it is possible but 100 hundreds is not easy. It depends on his fitness and longevity, if Virat can play as long as Sachin did then he might be able to achieve it,” Irfan said during a live chat on Sports Tak.

So far, Virat Kohli has amassed 21901 runs across the three formats combined. While he has achieved almost everything with his batting show, Kohli will be eyeing to lift a World Cup as Team India skipper. Alongside this, he will also be aiming to win an IPL title with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They have come close; however, is yet to put a hand on the coveted trophy.
