Virat Kohli is currently leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020. As batsman Kohli has done it all and stands above all as the best all-format player in the world. However, as captain, he still hasn’t an IPL title or ICC trophy.
Pragyan Ojha believes that Kohli as captain will keen on winning IPL and major ICC tournaments. In the IPL Kohli came close in 2016 when unfortunately RCB were defeated by SRH in front of their home crowd. As captain of India he lost the 2017 champions trophy final against Pakistan and then last year under him India made a heartbreaking semi-final exit from the world cup.
Virat Kohli is mordern day great – Pragyan Ojha
Former India cricketer Ojha compared him to sporting giants such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Usain Bolt. Ojha firmly maintains that Kohli is a modern great and deserves to be in the company of these legends.
Much like them Kohli too has an incredible hunger and wants to win every match. After achieving amazing heights as a batsman he will now be ardent to win important trophies as captain. Ojha thinks that in his mind Kohli wants to win major titles such as IPL and world cup as captain which will place him in an elite list.
“Virat Kohli is the modern great. For modern greats, you look at Messi, you look at Ronaldo, you look at Usain Bolt, they have their own race. They want to win everything. When they are going in their path, they want to win everything that they look at.
That’s how Virat must be thinking. ‘As a batsman, I have done so much. As a captain, now, I have to win World Cups, ICC tournaments, win Test matches’. This is what his mind will be telling him. IPL, ‘I will do this’,” Pragyan Ojha told Sports Today.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and his men will today face Delhi Capitals in a virtual knockout match in IPL 2020. The winner will get through to the playoffs and will also finish in the top 2. Pragyan Ojha has high expectations from Kohli and pointed out that he will be charged up for the big match.

“I am sure he (Kohli) will be charged up. His record tells us that when it comes to the bigger games, this man has delivered. So that’s why we all are talking about them. It again comes to down basics. The team that makes lesser mistakes. Teams have to keep it simple,” Pragyan Ojha added.
Furthermore, Royal Challengers Bangalore has not made the playoffs since 2016. Kohli and him men will be eager to prove a point today and put in a complete performance against DC at Abu Dhabi.
