Virender Sehwag Reveals The Toughest Bowler He Had Faced In His Career

Virender Sehwag is one of the most destructive opening batsmen ever played the game of cricket. Opponents bowlers were afraid to bowl him. On his day Sehwag could destroy any bowler. Sehwag had played the sport for more than a decade. Scoring 8273 runs in 251 ODIs matches with a destructive strike rate of 104.34.

Sehwag also has an amazing record in Test matches. He has scored 2 triple hundreds and 6 double hundreds. In 2004, Virender Sehwag had scored his maiden 300 against Pakistan at Multan, thus earning him the title of “Multan ka Sultan.”

However, when asked about the toughest bowler he had faced, he took the name of Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan. Murali is regarded as one of the greatest spinners of all time. Veteran spinner had played 133 Tests bagging 800 wickets under his belt.

In an interview with RJ Raunac on YouTube, Sehwag said, “Murali is one of the lethal bowlers he had faced in his career, it took me 7-8 years to tackle the spinner. Whenever I used to play against Sri Lanka, I always used to fear Murali.”

The right-handed batsman further added that if he had to face Muttiah Muralitharan today, it would still be a nightmare for him.

Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar have opened for India many matches. The duo has provided a solid opening stand to the team in a lot of matches for years.

Sehwag stated that he was having difficulty reading the deliveries of Muralitharan and later Sachin told him the way to decode Murali’s bowling.

” His action was so dangerous that I can’t pick up which one will be off-spin and which one would be the doosra. Sachin told us that if his thumb is visible then you can pick up that it is the doosra.” Sehwag added.
