Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has slammed the Men in Blue for their batting performance in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against Bangladesh. He pointed out that Suryakumar Yadav failed to play a significant innings and was also involved in Abhishek Sharma’s crucial run-out, which altered the momentum of India’s innings.

Even though Abhishek scored a quick 75 off 37 balls, India managed only 168/6 in their innings during the Dubai clash on Wednesday, September 24. The bowlers, however, stepped up to dismiss Bangladesh for 127, securing a 41-run victory and a spot in the final. Speaking on Sony Sports, Sehwag commented on Abhishek missing out on a century once again, noting that this time he cannot be blamed for the missed milestone.

“It wasn’t his mistake today, but only after his run-out, the fours and sixes were reduced, and no one scored runs. Suryakumar Yadav got out himself and got him run out. After that, no one’s bat was striking the ball. Even if we see Hardik Pandya, he scored 38 runs off 29 balls,” he responded.

The ex-India opener observed that Hardik Pandya struggled to find his rhythm, while Axar Patel couldn’t provide him with sufficient strike.

“When he bats well, he scores 50-60 runs off 29 balls. Axar Patel was unfortunate. His only job should have been to give more strike to Hardik Pandya, but he also could score only 10 runs off 15 balls. We all thought that 190-200 runs would be scored, but they didn’t reach there,” Sehwag elaborated.

“Even with Samson Not Batting, Only 170 Runs Scored”- Sehwag Slams India’s Batting

Virender Sehwag mentioned that even though Sanju Samson didn’t get a chance to bat, India still managed only a below-par total.

“Collapses happen, but a batter was left sitting in the dressing room, who didn’t get to bat, and still we scored only 170 runs. The Indian team batted badly. If we leave Abhishek Sharma’s knock, no other batter could impress,” he observed.
