Vodafone and Idea have come together with an associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) as co-presenting sponsors for the 2020 season.

The two companies who separately had collaborations with IPL in the past has now come together under the brand name of ‘Vi’. “Our association with Dream11 IPL 2020 will provide Vi, instant connect with millions of viewers, and I am confident that this will not only help build awareness of Vi but also help in building relevance and customer confidence,” Vi Chief Digital Transformation and Brand Officer Kavita Nair said.

Nair further that they were keen on carrying on the legacy of the company forward and there is no better way of doing it than joining with the richest franchise cricket league in the world.

“As a company we have had a very long association with IPL. I am delighted that now, with the launch of Vi, we are carrying this legacy forward” Brand Officer Kavita Nair added.

Vi Has Acquired Broadcast Rights For IPL 2020

Vi has acquired the broadcast rights of IPL 2020 which is starting from September 19 in Abu Dhabi.Meanwhile the financial details of the deal with Star Sports haven’t been declared as yet. Earlier Dream 11 bagged the official sponsorship rights of IPL 2020 for Rs 222 crore by beating the likes of Byju’s and Unacademy in the race. This happened after Chinese mobile company VIVO pulled out due to political tensions between India and China.

Meanwhile, Star Sports are the official broadcasters of the tournament in India. They already have 80 on-air advertisers signed with them for the season. The channel has further assured that they will be signing 30 to 40 more before the start of the season.

Some of their onboard advertisers include the likes of Amazon, Byju’s, Tata Motors, PayTM, CEAT among others.

The IPL 2020 season kicks off with Mumbai Indians facing off against Chennai Super Kings in the first match on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
