Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer has trolled England after Ravichandran Ashwin slammed the critics of Motera pitch after the third Test match between India and England finished inside to days. As many as 30 wickets fell inside five sessions as it was one of the shortest Test matches played in terms of balls played. Only 842 balls were bowled across the Test match which is among the fewest ever in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Ashwin was livid with the pitch being blamed for the way the two teams played in the Test match.

What Is a Good Cricket Pitch: Ravichandran Ashwin

Answering back to one of the questions from an English journalist, Ashwin asked “What is a good cricket surface and who defines it? He further said that it was a good sporting wicket with the bowlers being in the game and the batsmen needing to work hard on it to get runs. He further said that none of the English players blamed the pitch and were looking to improve ahead of the next Test.

“If you are asking if it is a good Test surface, I don’t see any of the players coming from England having an issue with the surface. They want to improve, they look like they want to have a contest” Ashwin said.

“Is it the players and the people who are reporting back that want their players to not complete and complain about the pitches? Because we have never done that on any of the tours,” he concluded.

The Indian bowlers bowled England out twice for scored of 112 and 81 in the Pink-Ball Test in Ahmedabad. They chased down 49 needed for victory and in the process knocked the visitors out of World Test Championship final race. India are now topping the table and almost sure to play the final of the championship against New Zealand.
