Star batter Virat Kohli‘s immense fan following was once again evident on Day 3 (Saturday, February 1) of the ongoing 2024-25 Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Railways. During the match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, three enthusiastic fans stormed the field simultaneously to meet the 36-year-old icon.
As Railways batted in their second innings, Kohli was positioned near the pitch when the fans rushed in to touch his feet. However, security personnel swiftly intervened, removing them from the ground, causing a notable delay in play. You can watch the video here:

This wasn’t the first such incident in the match. On Day 1 (Thursday, January 30), a fan ran onto the field to touch Kohli’s feet. As security escorted the individual away, the former India captain intervened, urging them not to use force.

Delhi captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and opted to field first. Railways struggled early, losing half their side for just 66 runs. However, a crucial 104-run stand for the sixth wicket between wicketkeeper-batter Upendra Yadav and Karn Sharma (50) provided some stability.
Yadav narrowly missed a century, getting dismissed for 95 off 177 balls. Navdeep Saini and Sumit Mathur claimed three wickets each as Railways were bowled out for 241. In response, Delhi’s top order failed to capitalize on their starts, with Sanat Sangwan (30) and Yash Dhull (32) falling cheaply.
Virat Kohli managed just six runs off 15 balls before being dismissed by Himanshu Sangwan. Badoni and Sumit Mathur then anchored Delhi’s innings with a crucial 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Badoni fell agonizingly short of a century, getting out for 99 while attempting an aggressive shot, while Mathur contributed 86.
Delhi posted a total of 374 in their first innings. Delhi’s bowlers dominated in the second innings, reducing Railways to 100-8 at the time of writing, still trailing by 33 runs. Shivam Sharma led the attack with an impressive five-wicket haul.
