Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan produced one of the most astonishing shots seen in cricket during the Asia Cup 2025 clash against Bangladesh on Tuesday, September 16, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The wrist-spinner slightly bent his stance and casually flicked his bat, lofting the ball over the fine-leg boundary for a six.
The remarkable moment unfolded in the 17th over bowled by left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman. With Afghanistan needing 45 runs from the final four overs in their chase of 155, Rashid stood firm and effortlessly redirected the bowler’s pace to clear the ropes, providing his team with a vital boost of momentum.

Rashid Khan contributed a fighting 20 off just 11 balls, which included two boundaries and a six. He was dismissed in the 19th over, leaving Afghanistan needing 23 runs from the final 10 deliveries. Ultimately, his side fell eight runs short of Bangladesh’s total of 154.
Rashid Khan Shines With Two-Wicket Spell In Afghanistan’s Bowling Effort Against Bangladesh
Rashid delivered an impressive spell earlier in the evening after Afghanistan were put in to bowl, finishing with figures of 4-0-26-2. The Afghan skipper broke a brisk 63-run opening stand between Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan by removing Saif for 30 in the seventh over, before returning to dismiss Shamim Hossain for 11.
Tanzid starred for Bangladesh with a quickfire 52 off 31 balls, striking four fours and three sixes. Noor Ahmad picked up two wickets, while Azmatullah Omarzai claimed one. Afghanistan’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing Sediqullah Atal (0) and Ibrahim Zadran (5) inside the powerplay.
Rishad Hossain ended a promising stand by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 35, who was building a partnership with Gulbadin Naib. Despite slipping to 77/5, Afghanistan stayed in contention until Omarzai’s dismissal for 30 in the 16th over. With 22 required from the last over, Noor Ahmad’s late blows—including two sixes—weren’t enough as Afghanistan fell short.
The win strengthened Bangladesh’s bid for a top-four spot, while Afghanistan now face a must-win clash against Sri Lanka in their final Group B match on Thursday, September 18.
