India are expected to rest Jasprit Bumrah for their final Asia Cup group-stage match against Oman, aiming to keep their premier fast bowler fresh for the demanding Super Four stage, according to a PTI report.

India began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a dominant nine-wicket victory over hosts UAE on 9 September and followed it up with a comprehensive seven-wicket win against Pakistan five days later, sealing the top spot in their group with one game still left.

With qualification already assured, the upcoming league clash against Oman on 19 September is now more of a formality. Suryakumar Yadav’s men have comfortably advanced, and resting Jasprit Bumrah is seen as a strategic move to manage his workload, especially as India could play up to four matches within seven days if they reach the final.

Bumrah has been in excellent form, having taken two for 28 against Pakistan to surpass Bhuvneshwar Kumar and become India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20Is. The 30-year-old now has 92 wickets in 72 matches at an impressive average of 17.67 and an economy of 6.29.

Arshdeep Singh Eyes 100th T20I Wicket As He Competes With Harshit Rana To Replace Bumrah

Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are the leading contenders to fill Bumrah’s spot. For Arshdeep, the game could be special—he is just one wicket away from becoming the eighth Indian bowler to claim 100 T20I wickets. His inclusion would strengthen India’s bowling unit while also giving him the chance to achieve a personal milestone.

The match against Oman also offers an opportunity for India’s batters to spend more time in the middle. The convincing wins over UAE and Pakistan didn’t test the top and middle order enough, and the team hopes to use this fixture as valuable match practice before the challenging Super Four phase.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav’s three for 18 against Pakistan lifted him past Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin into sixth place on India’s T20I wicket-takers list. With 76 wickets in 42 games, he adds crucial depth to India’s attack as they gear up for tougher contests ahead.
