All-rounder Zakary Foulkes became Arshdeep Singh’s third scalp in the ongoing third ODI between India and New Zealand, being played in Indore on Sunday, January 18. After being put in to bat by India, New Zealand lost Foulkes in the 48th over of their innings. Attempting a reverse lap off the very first delivery from Arshdeep, Foulkes switched his stance to take on the left-arm pacer.
Arshdeep delivered a low full toss, but the shot completely misfired as Foulkes failed to get any elevation and hit the ball straight to Kuldeep Yadav at short third man. Kuldeep stayed low and completed a simple catch, ensuring Foulkes’ dismissal and handing Arshdeep his third wicket of the match.

New Zealand slipped to 304/7 following his dismissal and later went on to post 337/8 at the end of their allotted 50 overs. Arshdeep Singh was India’s standout bowler, finishing with figures of 3/63 from his full spell. Harshit Rana also claimed three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one apiece.
Arshdeep Singh Missed Out On Selection For First Two ODIs
Arshdeep Singh was not part of India’s playing XI in the first two ODIs of the series, with the team opting for Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, and Prasidh Krishna. However, the left-arm pacer came into the side for the final ODI in Indore, replacing Krishna, and made an immediate impact.
He provided the hosts with an early breakthrough by removing Henry Nicholls for a duck in the very first over. Arshdeep later returned to end the massive 219-run partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips, dismissing Phillips in the 44th over.
Despite sitting out the opening two matches, he underlined his value by making the most of his opportunity and finishing among the wickets.
Arshdeep made his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2022 and has since played 15 matches in the format. He has picked up 25 wickets at an average of 24.44, conceding runs at an economy rate of 5.38, with best figures of 5/37.
