Bowling the very first ball of the second innings, Axar Patel dismissed England opener Zak Crawley. After picking up six wickets in the first innings, Patel picked up a wicket with his very first ball to put fear into the mind of the English batters.

Earlier in the day, India were bowled out for 145 in the first session. England skipper Joe Root took five wickets on day 2, as the pitch assisted the spinners more on day 2 than day 1. Jack Leach took four wickets as well.

England started their second innings trailing the Indian first innings score by 33 runs and lost two wickets in the very first over. Axar Patel Crawley in the back foot as the batsman failed to understand the direction of the ball. The ball came in with the angle while Crawley played for the turn breaching his defense to unrattle his timber.

Earlier in the day, former England skipper Michael Vaughan trolled the Indian batsmen after they found it tough to negotiate Root. Some of his deliveries turned while some came straight with the arm to keep the Indian tailenders guessing.

“Indian batsman can’t play off spinners from Yorkshire !! #INDvENG” wrote Vaughan on Twitter.

India started day 2 on 99 for 3 and have lost seven wickets inside the first session for just 45 runs and struggling to put up a big score. The pitch has shown signs of turn right from the first session of the first day.

Meanwhile, Joe Root introducing himself into the attack turned out to be a masterstroke and has paid off beautifully for his team. He ended with five wickets as India were bowled out for 145 inside the first session. He took five for 8 and in the process registered his best bowling figures in Test cricket.
