Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Axar Patel’s quick cameo against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended when he was bowled by Noor Ahmad’s signature googly at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 5. Trying to slog sweep over mid-wicket, Axar missed the ball completely and was dismissed for 21.
Axar Patel moved up to No. 4 to maintain a left-right batting combo with KL Rahul after Abishek Porel’s dismissal in the seventh over. He showed positive intent right away, launching a straight six off Ravindra Jadeja to get off the mark. He kept the scoreboard moving with regular boundaries against the spinners during the middle overs.
Looking to continue the aggressive approach, Axar attempted to take on Noor Ahmad, just after KL Rahul had hit a six. Noor tossed one up, drawing Axar into a slog sweep, but the ball slipped through the gap between bat and body and crashed into the stumps. You can watch the dismissal video here:

Axar Patel scored 21 off 14 balls, continuing his tough run against CSK, against whom he averages just 14.36 across 14 innings since 2014. Interestingly, he had also batted at No. 4—just like in this match—during his very first IPL game against them.

DC set for big finish despite Axar’s wicket.
After Axar Patel’s dismissal, the visitors were 90/3 in the 11th over. Sameer Rizvi joined KL Rahul, who was anchoring the innings brilliantly with calm and control under pressure. DC maintained their momentum by finding at least one boundary every over and didn’t allow the CSK spinners to settle or dominate at any stage.
At the 15-over mark, DC stood at a solid 138/3, with KL Rahul bringing up his first fifty of the season. Power-hitters Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma were still to bat.
