Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the perfect start for his side against Mumbai Indians during their IPL 2026 clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, May 10. After dismissing Ryan Rickelton in his first over, the experienced pacer struck again by removing both Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav off back-to-back deliveries.
The double blow came in the third over of MI’s innings. On the second-last ball of the over, Bhuvneshwar bowled a knuckleball outside off stump, tempting Rohit into a drive. The batter got a faint outside edge, and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma pulled off a sharp diving catch to his left. Rohit departed after scoring 22 runs from just 10 balls.
On the very next delivery, Bhuvneshwar delivered a length ball outside off that moved away after pitching. Suryakumar was slightly late on the shot and could only edge it towards first slip, where Virat Kohli completed a comfortable catch. Watch the video here:

With 20 wickets to his name so far, Bhuvneshwar Kumar currently sits at the top of the wicket-taking charts in IPL 2026. The 36-year-old is also one of just two Indian bowlers to claim more than 200 wickets in the tournament’s history, trailing only Yuzvendra Chahal of Punjab Kings, who leads the list with 229 wickets.
Tilak Varma And Naman Dhir Rebuild MI Innings After Early RCB Strikes
Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir were at the crease after Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck three early blows to hand Royal Challengers Bengaluru a dream start against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2026 clash. At the time of writing, MI were 53/3 after six overs, with Naman unbeaten on 14 off 12 balls and Tilak batting on 11 off 9 deliveries.
RCB currently sit fourth on the IPL 2026 points table with six wins from 10 matches, and a victory could take them to the top depending on net run rate. Meanwhile, MI are placed ninth with just three wins in 10 games, and another defeat would officially end their playoff hopes.
The last meeting between the two sides in IPL 2026 saw RCB register an 18-run win over MI at the Wankhede Stadium.
