After India’s thrilling victory against West Indies in the first ODI on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, the Indian players got an opportunity to interact with legendary cricketer Brian Lara. The former West Indies player is a local of Trinidad and came to watch the ODI game. India secured three runs win to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Following the conclusion of the thrilling match, Brian Lara visited the dressing room. He was seen interacting with Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Yuzvendra Chahal. The incident was caught and camera and shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They took to Twitter to post the video and caption it,

“Look who came visiting the #TeamIndia dressing room. The legendary Brian Charles Lara!#WIvIND | @BrianLara”

The BCCI also shared a picture of Brian Lara with Indian head coach Rahul Dravid. The duo has played against each other for their respective teams in International cricket. Both Brian Lara and Rahul Dravid are considered one of the bests to have ever played the sport. Posting their picture, the BCCI wrote, Two Legends, One Frame! #TeamIndia | #WIvIND”

India kicks off the West Indies tour with a win

The Indian team won the first ODI against West Indies on Friday by three runs at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. They were asked to bat first by West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran. India put on 308 runs on the board on the back of a great performance by the top three. Shikhar Dhawan scored 97 runs, while Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer slammed 64 and 54 runs respectively.

Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie picked two wickets each for West Indies. In reply, West Indies fell three runs short of the target. Kyle Mayers was the leading run-scorer for the hosts with 75 runs. Meanwhile, Brandon King, Akeal Hosein, and Romario Shephard also made valuable contributions, however, they could not take West Indies over the line.

The second ODI match between India and West Indies will take place on Sunday, July 24 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. India is leading the three-match series 1-0.
