[WATCH]- Brydon Carse Dismisses KL Rahul With A Stunner In The 1st ENG vs IND Test

Indian opener KL Rahul was dismissed for 137 by England fast bowler Brydon Carse on Day 4 of the first Test at Leeds, held on Monday, June 23. Rahul, who was in sublime touch, dragged a short-pitched delivery from Carse onto his middle stump in the 85th over, bringing an end to a superb knock.

The breakthrough came at a crucial time for England, as India looked to step up the scoring rate. Notably, this was the second time in the match that Carse managed to dismiss Rahul. Before his dismissal, Rahul shared a crucial 195-run partnership with Rishabh Pant, who was dismissed for 118 shortly before the Tea break.

This was KL Rahul’s ninth century in Test cricket, achieved in his 59th match for India. Remarkably, only one of those hundreds has been scored on home soil, with the remaining eight coming in overseas conditions such as England, South Africa, Australia, and the West Indies.

With Rahul Out, Jadeja Steps In To Keep India’s Charge Alive Against England

KL Rahul’s dismissal for 137 on Monday, June 23, provided a rare moment of relief for England, who had been under consistent pressure from Rahul and Rishabh Pant. The duo came together after Shubman Gill’s early exit in the opening hour and navigated a challenging phase with a balanced approach—mixing solid defence with calculated aggression.

In the second session, Pant shifted gears, playing attacking strokes and putting the English bowlers on the back foot. Their brilliant partnership yielded 195 runs for the fourth wicket before Pant was dismissed for 118 while attempting to go after Shoaib Bashir.

With both set batters back in the pavilion, the responsibility now lies with Ravindra Jadeja and the lower-order to push India’s lead further before giving England a target in the final innings. At the time of reporting, India were 349 for 6 after 89 overs.
