The Kolkata Knight Riders will today contest their opening match of IPL 2020. KKR will be facing defending champions Mumbai Indians at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Well before KKR’s first match in the league, their fans got a pleasant wonderment.

The world’s most towering building Burj Khalifa, a major attraction in UAE displayed the colours of KKR. An LED exhibit showcased the team members photo with their theme song in the background and wished them luck before their inaugural match of IPL 2020.

KKR is owned by ‘King of Bollywood’ Shah Rukh Khan who enjoys a tremendous fan base in UAE. The Bollywood actor has often been closely associated with UAE and even owns a posh apartment at the tree-shaped Palm Jumeirah island in Dubai.

Meanwhile, before KKR takes the field against MI, they were honoured as the Burj Khalifa was sparked up in shades of purple and gold of KKR.

The official account of Kolkata Knight Riders shared the videos for all their fans on twitter and wrote, “Before the fireworks tomorrow, here’s the curtain-raiser! We won’t stop, on our way to the Top . Thank you @BurjKhalifa for lighting up in #KKR colours. What a welcome to the UAE tonight”.

Moreover KKR this year will be once again led by Dinesh Karthik. The coaching duties this year has been handed to former KKR legend Brendon McCullum.

KKR last year narrowly missed out on a playoffs birth and finished 5th in the table. The KKR franchise will look to start their campaign against a team they do not enjoy a good head to head record.

KKR and MI have faced each other in a total of 25 matches in IPL history in which, KKR has only managed to win 6 matches. Furthermore, the match will begin at 7:30 IST live from Abu Dhabi where MI also played their previous match.
