[WATCH] Cameron Bancroft Take Another Stunning Catch In The BBL

The Perth Scorchers cruised to another dominant Big Bash League victory on Friday, defeating the Adelaide Strikers by seven wickets in a heavily one-sided contest. The hosts only managed 92 at their home ground, the Adelaide Oval, a total that took the league leaders only 11.1 overs to chase. Things could have been different had highly experienced Kangaroo Alex Carey batted for Adelaide, but the flamboyant batter was denied his chance by a catch-of-the-season contender from former international Cameron Bancroft.

When Peter Hatzoglou was given the ball for the first time in the match, the Strikers were already down to 20/3 at the end of the fourth over. Carey eked out a couple of dot balls in the over, prompting the newly arrived wicketkeeper batter on the crease to go for a big heave on the fifth ball of the over.

Carey slog-swept a flighted delivery outside off, though he didn’t get close enough to see it sail over the ropes. Despite this, the Kookaburra appeared to be safely making its way to the boundary through the gap towards Cow Corner, only for Bancroft to ruin the party.

Cameron Bancroft takes a stunner:

The veteran dashed from deep midwicket to his right at breakneck speed, pulling off a desperate last-second leap at the ball that hardly qualified as a dive. However, as if by miracle, Bancroft grabbed the ball with both hands and did not let the hard impact on the ground derail his efforts.

All the players were left stunned by Bancroft’s effort, well aware that the Scorcher had executed a similar stunt exactly a week ago against Sydney Thunder, ensuring he has at least two entries when the time comes to vote for the catch of the season.
