Team India had the worst start to day 3 losing in-form batsman Cheteshwar Pujara in a bizarre fashion in the first over of the day’s play at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. India currently lead by 250 runs and is well ahead in the game as they look to level terms in the series.
England started the day with Moeen Ali trying to exploit the wicket on offer. Rohit Sharma took the first strike and immediately gave the strike to Cheteshwar Pujara, whose stay in the middle lasted for only five balls. After defending the first couple of deliveries, Pujara got out in a bizarre manner.
Cheteshwar Pujara gets unlucky
Pujara’s stepped out to flick it straight to short leg from Moeen Ali. However, then what should’ve been a normal return back into the crease, ends up in a drama, thanks to Cheteshwar Pujara’s bat getting stuck into the pitch outside the crease.

Ollie Pope, who was positioned at the forward short-leg was quick to flick the ball to the keeper, who’s quicker to whip the bails out, and Pujara’s foot can’t get back in time. England get lucky early on in the day and they will hope to keep up the momentum.

Meanwhile, Ben Foakes continued his good form in the match forcing another unforced error from Rohit Sharma as India lost two wickets in the first four overs of the day’s play. India have promoted Rishabh Pant ahead of Ajinkya Rahane as the host look to secure some quick runs and take the game away from England.
Previously, Virat Kohli & Co had bowled out England for 134 runs to secure a massive first-innings lead. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers scalping five wickets while Ishant Sharma and debutant Axar Patel returning with two wickets each.
