England secured a 22-run victory over India in the third Test at Lord’s on Monday, July 14. Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir sealed the win by dismissing Mohammed Siraj for four, sparking scenes of celebration among the England players and the home crowd. The result handed the hosts a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, with two Tests remaining.
As both teams made their way through the iconic Long Room and back to their dressing rooms, they were met with a standing ovation, a gesture of respect for India’s valiant effort and England’s hard-fought win. You can watch the video here:

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained not out on 61 from 181 deliveries, stitching together crucial partnerships of 30, 35, and 23 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, respectively. This was his second fifty of the match, having earlier scored 72 in the first innings, a vital contribution that helped India match England’s first-innings total of 387.
India Lose Lord’s Thriller By 22 Runs Despite Jadeja’s Resistance
India resumed the final day on 58 for 4, still needing 135 runs to win. However, their chase never gathered momentum, as England’s bowlers combined relentless discipline with pinpoint accuracy to strike at regular intervals and keep the pressure firmly on the visitors.
At 82 for 7, India looked all but out of contention. Yet Ravindra Jadeja showed remarkable composure, resilience, and technique to anchor the lower order. He stitched together 88 valuable runs with the final three batters, keeping India’s hopes alive deep into the day.
But the fightback ultimately fell short, as England claimed the last three wickets late in the day after a tense final session. Jadeja was left unbeaten on 61, and India now trail 1-2 in the series heading into the next Test at Old Trafford.
