Watch – Fakhar Zaman Almost Catches Umpire Off-Guard With A Bullet Straight Drive

Fakhar Zaman provided a late impetus as Pakistan posted a mammoth total of 176 runs after being asked to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. He remained unbeaten on 55 runs from 32 balls to put the men in greens on top.

Asked to bat first, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan once again provided Pakistan on top. They added 71 runs for the first wicket to set the stage for the batter to come and exploit the platform. Although Babar got out after a well made 39 runs, Fakhar Zaman ensured they maintain the run rate.

The southpaw was slow to get off the block and once he hit the strides, he took the Australian bowlers to cleaners. Fakhar almost caught the umpire off-guard with a straight drive.

The incident took place in the 18th over of the match when Mitchell Starc bowled a full delivery. Fakhar Zaman almost cleaned up the umpire as he sent a bazooka just over the umpire as Chris Gaffaney managed to duck and the ball flew to the fence.

Fakhar Zaman continued the onslaught as Pakistan powered to 176 runs, the highest total in Dubai in this tournament. Pakistan’s batting coach Matthey Hayden lauded his batters effort in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Speaking at the mid-innings break, Hayden said:

“Obviously, there’s a conflict of interests, my heart is all for Australia. But this was a fantastic opportunity with Pakistan, big fan of this batting line-up, have performed superbly right through with the bat all along and tonight is no exception. Rizwan was in hospital a night ago, suffering from a bronchitis condition, but this is a warrior, a quiet start to tonight’s campaign, but he has great courage, so has Babar, fantastic to see them combine so well.”
