“It Hasn’t Been A Perfect Campaign” — Aakash Chopra On India Ahead Of 2025 Final vs South Africa
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra shared his analysis of Harmanpreet Kaur and her team’s journey in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 ahead of the title clash against South Africa. He noted that India’s campaign has been far from smooth, with several highs and lows before finding their rhythm in the semi-final.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former batter-turned-commentator stated:
“It hasn’t been a fairytale World Cup for the Indian women’s team. You lost three consecutive matches and the heart broke more than once. In such a scenario, the self-doubts creep in. After that, you changed your combination. A lot happened in this World Cup. A time comes in any trophy-winning campaign when everyone feels they are invincible. This was the semi-final moment.”
Chopra also shared his thoughts on the team’s batting lineup and expressed his best wishes to them ahead of the crucial final. He further mentioned:
“I am expecting runs from Smriti Mandhana’s bat. I am very eager to see fours and sixes from Shafali Verma’s bat. Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Amanjot Kaur, Deepti Sharma – we shall do it, only best wishes for them.”
