[WATCH]- Varun Chakaravarthy’s Twin Strikes Revive India’s Hopes In 3rd T20I Against Australia

Varun Chakaravarthy turned the game in India’s favor following Tim David’s explosive knock in the third T20I against Australia in Hobart on Sunday, November 2. The world’s No. 1 T20I bowler struck twice in consecutive deliveries, dismissing skipper Mitchell Marsh (11 off 14) and Mitchell Owen (golden duck), leaving Australia struggling at 73/4.

The breakthrough came in the ninth over of the innings. Chakaravarthy first bowled a flighted delivery that tempted Marsh to go for a big shot, only for Tilak Varma to take a comfortable catch at long-off. On the very next ball, the spinner delivered a well-disguised googly that sneaked through Owen’s defense to rattle the stumps.

The 34-year-old nearly claimed a hat-trick, but Marcus Stoinis managed to keep out the following delivery. You can watch Marsh’s wicket here

Varun Chakaravarthy had also picked up two wickets in the second T20I. Excluding the ongoing match against Australia, he has taken 23 wickets in 13 T20I appearances so far this year.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Arshdeep Singh Claim Two Wickets Each To Keep 3rd T20I Finely Balanced

Varun Chakaravarthy and Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets each, while Tim David’s explosive half-century kept the contest finely balanced in the third T20I between India and Australia. Alongside Varun’s breakthroughs, Arshdeep dismissed Travis Head and Josh Inglis for single-digit scores during the powerplay to give India an early advantage.

At the current stage, Australia were 130/5 after 15 overs, with Marcus Stoinis (35 off 22) and Matthew Short (2 off 4) at the crease. Shivam Dube managed to end Tim David’s fiery innings of 74 off just 38 balls. Led by Mitchell Marsh, Australia entered the match with a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

They clinched the second game by four wickets after bowling India out for 125 in Melbourne, while the opening encounter was washed out due to rain. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian side will now aim to bounce back and level the series 1-1.
