Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had immediate impact in his first IPL 2022 as he produced a brilliant work on the field to run out Mumbai Indians’ Tilak Varma. The five-time IPL champions, who are yet to open their account in the ongoing tournament, were brought down to 62/4 at the halfway stage.
The incident took place in the 10th over of the match. Akash Deep had put pressure on the Mumbai side dismissing well-set Ishan Kishan. It brought young Tilak Varma in the middle. In the penultimate ball of the over, Varma tried to sneak in a quick single.
The southpaw tapped one in front of short cover and just scoots off for a single. Glenn Maxwell charged in to pick the ball and under-arms a direct hit with just one stump to aim at. It was a suicidal run against someone like Maxwell, who is known to be swift on the field.

Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians never really got going. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan struggled to get their timing right. They added 50 runs for the first wicket before Rohit played one straight to bowler Harshal Patel.
Dewald Brevis followed the suit a couple of overs later before Akash Deep got the better of Ishan in the next over. The southpaw played an uppercut only to hole out to Mohammed Siraj in the third man region.
Royal Challengers Bangalore continued to haunt Mumbai. This time it was Wanindu Hasaranga, who trapped experienced all-rounder Kieron Pollard. Mumbai were reeling at 71/5 in 12.1 overs at the time of writing with Suryakumar Yadav leading the charge with the bat.
