Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered their first defeat of the season as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) drown the former by eight wickets at the DY Patil Sports Academy. Meanwhile, Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya was seeing losing cool at senior pacer Mohammed Shami on the field.

Defending 162 runs, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma got Sunrisers Hyderabad off to a flying start. Abhishek was the attacker of the two as they marched towards the target. The youngster played a fine knock of 42 runs before Rashid Khan got the first breakthrough.

Rahul Tripathi joined the SRH skipper and the two continued to score heavily. Meanwhile, in the last ball of the 13th, Tripathi just opened the bat face for the ball to land just short of the third man  fielder.

Mohammed Shami didn’t came charging for the catch which didn’t impress Hardik Pandya. The young skipper hurled out loud words full of angst for the senior cricketer. Hardik was also spotted abusing Shami for not putting in the effort.

However, it was an easy win for the Hyderabad franchise. Although Rahul Tripathi got retired hurt, Nicholas Pooran played an outstanding innings to seal Hyderabad’s second victory on the trot. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 34 off 18 balls to chase down the total with five balls to spare.

“I can’t let a young gun get away with something right?” – Hardik Pandya on his battle with Umran Malik

Young Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik racked up some good pace after he came into the attack just after the powerplays. Hardik Pandya was given a major wake-up call after the speedster’s potent bouncer hit him flush on the helmet. Wavering away treatment, the all-rounder responded by dispatching the next two deliveries for boundaries.

Speaking on the duel at the post-match presentation ceremony, Pandya said:

“With all due respect I can’t let a young gun get away with something right? The IPL is tough so it kind of woke me up and it felt nice after that.”

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans will hope to regroup and bounce back in the next game.
