Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya was spotted leaving the Mumbai airport on Friday, May 9, following the BCCI’s announcement of a temporary suspension of IPL 2025. The tournament has been paused for a week due to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
After the suspension news broke, MI players and support staff returned to Mumbai. Hardik was seen personally driving his Range Rover as he exited the airport, while fans gathered around to capture photos and videos of the 31-year-old all-rounder.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders,” an official statement read (via IPL T20).
Mumbai Indians Bounce Back in Style Under Hardik Pandya’s Leadership in IPL 2025
Hardik Pandya is in his second consecutive season as captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL. The team had a rough beginning, losing four of their first five matches. However, as has been the case in previous seasons, MI bounced back strongly with six consecutive wins, climbing into the top four after 12 games.
In their most recent outing, they suffered a narrow three-wicket loss against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Currently, Mumbai Indians (MI) sit fourth on the points table with seven wins and five losses, totaling 14 points.
Individually, Pandya has contributed both with bat and ball. He has scored 158 runs in eight innings at a brisk strike rate of 168.08. With the ball, he has taken 13 wickets in 11 matches, maintaining an average of 19.76, a strike rate of 12.9, and an economy rate of 9.17.
