An elderly fan showcased her emotions in a touching manner, kissing the television screen after Virat Kohli reached his century in the second ODI against South Africa on Wednesday at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur. A video circulating on social media captured the fan praying and planting a kiss on the screen the moment Kohli achieved the milestone.

Coming into the second ODI on the back of a scintillating 135 off 120 balls that helped India secure a 17-run win and a 1-0 series lead, Kohli continued his fine form in Raipur. He scored a composed 102 off 93 deliveries, including seven fours and two sixes. The Delhi-born batter also shared a rapid 195-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad, propelling India to a formidable total of 358/5 in their allotted 50 overs.

The innings marked Kohli’s 53rd ODI century and his 84th overall in international cricket. The seasoned batsman is now just 16 centuries short of reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 international hundreds.

“Century Was Inevitable”- Sunil Gavaskar On Kohli’s Masterclass

Former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar praised Virat Kohli for his role in guiding Ruturaj Gaikwad. Speaking on JioStar, as reported by IANS Live, Gavaskar mentioned that he always expected Kohli to reach a century and also lauded him for supporting Gaikwad in compiling his 105-run innings.

“To be honest, at no point did it look like he wasn’t going to get a hundred. From the first ball he faced, it felt as if he was carrying on from Ranchi. He got off the mark with a hook for six, a shot he doesn’t often play in the air, which showed the confidence from his previous hundred.”

“After that, unless something unfortunate happened, the hundred always seemed inevitable. Ruturaj would’ve been nervous after getting out to a brilliant catch earlier, and whatever Kohli told him clearly lifted him; the next ball he played very confidently off the front foot.”
