South African opener Quinton De Kock failed to make a big score on his return to the team for the fourth T20I against India on Friday at the Saurashtra Cricket Association in Rajkot. He was run out for just 14 runs in the second innings chasing 170 runs.

Quinton De Kock opened the innings along with Temba Bavuma. He slammed consecutive boundaries against Hardik Pandya in the second over of the innings. However, his stay at the crease lasted only thirteen balls. A huge mix-up between De Kock and Dwaine Pretorius resulted in the former’s dismissal.

In the fifth over, Harshal Patek bowled an incoming delivery, which De Kock pushed for a single. The non-striker took a few steps, but then backed out. Meanwhile, De Kock had run too far down the wicket and did not even bother to return back. Harshal Patel collected the ball and ran towards the stumps to run De Kock out.

South Africa lose two wickets inside the powerplay

The South African cricket team managed to score 35 runs in the powerplay at the loss of two wickets. Opener Quinton De Kock and Dwaine Pretorius are back in the hut. Pretorius was dismissed for a six-ball duck by Avesh Khan.

South African skipper Temba Bavuma, who opened the innings, got retired hurt after he hurt his left elbow. The physio was out on the field, and Bavuma eventually decided to walk off as he could not hold the bat due to pain. Meanwhile, Henrich Klaasen has joined Rassie van der Dussen at the crease for South Africa.

Earlier in the match, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik’s blazing knocks powered India to 169 runs. Hardik scored 46 runs off 31 balls, while Dinesh Karthik slammed a 27-ball 55.
