Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Jimmy Neesham had to go back to the pavilion after a mix-up with Ravichandran Ashwin resulted in his run-out. The Rajasthan Royals are playing against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Jimmy Neesham walked out to bat after the fall of  Devdutt Padikkal’s wicket. The Rajasthan Royals were 122 for four down in around fourteen overs. The all-rounder could not contribute much with the bat, as he was run out in the eighteenth over. Ravichandran Ashwin drove the ball straight to cover off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling. As soon as he hit the ball, Neesham set off for a run.

However, Ashwin was watching the ball. This caused a mix-up between the two. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi gathered KL Rahul’s brilliant throw and took the bails off. Ashwin tried to sacrifice his wicket. However, the decision was referred to the third umpire. The replays showed that the batters had not crossed when the bails were taken off. As a result, Neesham had to go back to the pavilion. Prithi Ashwin, Ravichandran Ashwin’s wife looked surprised by the dismissal.

RR set a target of 179 runs for the Lucknow Super Giants

The Rajasthan Royals managed to put on 178 runs on the board at the end of the first innings. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them a good start in the powerplay. He scored 41 runs off 29 balls including six boundaries and a six. Along with Yashasvi, Padikkal also played a fine hand. He smashed 39 runs off just 18 balls, at a strike rate of 216.67.

On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for the Lucknow Super Giants. He took 2/31 in his quota of four overs. Bishnoi dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and Riyan Parag in the innings.

Reflecting on the innings, the Lucknow Super Giants spinner said, “In the first over, I bowled fuller. Rahul, KP (Krunal Pandya), and Quinton advised me to pull my length back and bowl stump-to-stump. The ball is coming onto the bat nicely, it’s not gripping. 178 is a fighting score. We have depth in our batting, so we should be able to chase this down. There’s no dew, but it’s humid.”
