Rishabh Pant, India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, struck a massive six during a practice session that ended up breaking the roof. The powerful shot came as Team India prepared for their upcoming five-match Test series against England, starting on June 20.
During an open-net session ahead of the first Test, Pant faced off-spinner Washington Sundar. The left-hander went down on one knee and launched the ball over the leg side, with the shot soaring high enough to damage the roof.
Although Rishabh Pant struggled for consistency during the IPL 2025 season, he finished on a high by scoring a superb century in his final match. That knock is likely to boost his confidence heading into the England series. You can watch the video here:

The five-match Test series will kick off at Headingley in Leeds. The second Test is scheduled for July 2–6 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, followed by the third Test at Lord’s from July 10–14. Old Trafford will host the fourth Test from July 23–27, while the series finale will take place at the Kennington Oval between July 31 and August 4.
Team India Gears Up For Redemption In England
Following back-to-back Test series losses—at home to New Zealand and away to Australia—India returns to red-ball cricket after a significant hiatus. In the interim, they hosted England for a white-ball series, competed in the 2025 Champions Trophy, and completed the IPL 2025 season.
India’s recent struggles in the longest format have drawn criticism, particularly after the defeats to Australia and New Zealand. With Shubman Gill taking over as the new Test captain and senior players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli not part of the squad, the upcoming series against England presents a tough challenge.
Yet, despite the transitional phase, the tour signals a fresh chapter for Indian Test cricket. It also marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for Gill and his side.
