Celebrated Sri Lankan fast bowler Suranga Lakmal has called time on his international career after the 2nd Test against India came to an end in Bengaluru. In a heartwarming gesture, Indian cricketers came to congratulate the departing cricketer.
Lakmal, after Sri Lanka’s bowling innings on Day 2, was congratulated by Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and former skipper Virat Kohli as the duo walked up to him in the dressing room.
Meanwhile, the celebraions continued after Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up the 35-year-old cricketer. The Indian pacer ran up to him with a huge smile on his face to congratulate the SL pacer on a fantastic career.
Seeing Bumrah, the whole Indian team joined him as skipper Rohit Sharma, Kohli, wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, Hanuma Vihari, Axar Patel all walked up to Lakmal to shake hands with him. The gesture won the hearts of cricket fans around the world.

Suranga Lakmal steps aside 288 international scalps under his belt in 70 Tests, 86 ODIs and eight T20I matches. He has been Sri Lanka’s leading bowlers in the red-ball format in the last couple of years.
Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne labelled Lakmal and one of the best cricketers he has seen.
“One of the greatest I’ve ever seen in my professional life. I’m thrilled for him that he’ll be playing county cricket, and I’m confident he’ll excel there as well,” Karunaratne said at the end of the match.Â
Speaking of the game, India thrashed the Islanders by 238 runs in the pink-ball Test in Bengaluru to clean sweep the series. While Shreyas Iyer was the pick of the batters scoring two fifties, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin rose upto the occasion with the  ball picking up eight and six wickets respectively.
