Players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni come once in a century: Sunil Gavaskar

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels Mahendra Singh Dhoni should continue playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. There have been rumors about the 2023 season being the wicketkeeper’s last. However, Dhoni hasn’t confirmed his retirement. Speaking about the former Indian skipper’s retirement from IPL, Sunil Gavaskar expressed that Dhoni is a once-in-a-century player. He hoped that the Chennai Super Kings player continues playing in the Indian Premier League. Sunil Gavaskar said,

“KP (Kevin Pietersen) spoke about it earlier, about the Impact Player. As an impact player, he can stick around and play. Players like him come once in a century, not even once in a generation. And therefore, you just want to see more and more of them. We are hoping this is not the last hurrah and that he will be around for some more time to come.”
