India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah finally left his mark in the second innings of the Delhi Test, dismissing Jomel Warrican with a brilliant delivery on Day 4. It was his first wicket of the innings, coming after a long wait of 94 overs, as the West Indies put up stubborn resistance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The day began on a challenging note for India, with the overnight duo of Shai Hope and John Campbell showing great determination. Bumrah bowled with discipline on a pitch offering low bounce, but an early breakthrough continued to evade him.

However, after India sparked a turnaround post-Lunch by triggering a batting collapse, Bumrah joined the effort by knocking over the tail. Kuldeep Yadav had already picked up two wickets in the 92nd over, leaving the West Indies struggling at 298/7 with captain Roston Chase back in the pavilion.

Jasprit Bumrah was brought back into the attack shortly after, and he made an impact almost instantly, striking with just his second delivery. Jomel Warrican pushed tentatively at a ball angled in at him, leaving a large gap between bat and pad. The delivery slipped through and crashed into the off stump, sending it cartwheeling dramatically.

The West Indies spinner managed just 3 runs from 6 balls before being dismissed, leaving the scoreboard at 307/8 after 95 overs. Notably, he was bowled by a fast bowler in the first innings as well, when Mohammed Siraj removed him after he had scored just a single run.

In the very next over after removing Jomel Warrican, the right-arm fast bowler struck once more, dismissing Anderson Phillip, who edged one through to wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. The West Indies tailender walked back after managing only two runs off 10 balls.

At the time of reporting, Bumrah’s figures stood at 2 for 30 from 16 overs, with the West Indies struggling at 315 for 9, holding a slender lead of just 45 runs.
