India’s vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja displayed positive intent with the bat after the lunch session on Day 2 of the opening Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Friday, October 3. The left-hander took on Jomel Warrican in the 72nd over, smashing him for two towering sixes.
Warrican floated up a half-volley, which Jadeja advanced down the pitch to and launched over long-on for a huge six. He followed it up with a near-identical shot, once again lofting a tossed-up delivery over the same region. You can watch the video here:

Ravindra Jadeja was one of India’s standout performers with the bat during the five-match Test series in England earlier this year, which ended 2-2. The 36-year-old scored 516 runs across 10 innings, registering one century and five fifties. He now aims to carry forward that batting form into the ongoing Test series against the West Indies.
Apart from his batting prowess, the left-arm spinner remains a key threat with the ball, having already claimed 330 wickets in 86 Tests.
Jadeja And Jurel Rebuild India’s Innings After Early Blows
Ravindra Jadeja and Dhruv Jurel provided stability to India’s innings after the quick dismissals of skipper Shubman Gill and centurion KL Rahul. Rahul was the top scorer with a fine 100 off 197 deliveries, featuring 12 boundaries, while Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 50 (100) and 36 (54), respectively.
By the end of 78 overs, India had moved to 262/4, with Jurel unbeaten on 32 off 66 balls and Jadeja on 26 off 33, extending the lead to 100 runs. For the West Indies, captain Roston Chase stood out with the ball, claiming two wickets. On Day 1, India’s bowlers dominated as the visitors were skittled for 162 in 44.1 overs.
Mohammed Siraj led the attack with four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with three and two scalps each.
